Certification

To obtain the necessary accreditation to certify galvanized material to the requirements of the National Standards, Empowered Galvanizers implemented and maintained a quality management system to meet the requirements of the SABS (ISO 1461) Product Certification Scheme. The adoption of the latest version of the ISO 1461 standard by the National Standards Body brought about a change in the way Empowered Galvanizers conducted business and in the methods to provide for service excellence and customer satisfaction without affecting zinc coating quality that Empowered Galvanizers prides themselves in.

With this came the need to drastically improve and expand our Quality Management System. Accreditation by an alternative Product Certification Body requiring a more stringent technically based quality management system was eventually obtained through SATAS (South African Technical Auditing Services) in June 2010 and is continually being audited for compliance to the Certification Conditions and the latest specification applicable to SANS 121 (ISO 1461):2011 Hot dip galvanized coatings on fabricated iron and steel articles – Specifications and test methods.

Significant changes in the fastener industry require that additional Product Certification be sought for the SANS 10684 Fasteners – Hot dip galvanized coatings specification which was duly attained through SATAS in March 2013.

Our progress towards becoming ISO 9001 listed is included in our policies and objectives and will become a reality soon after the new open dip facility being commissioned dur ing the last quarter of 2013 is finalized.
